Overview
History
The Musculoskeletal Research Center is located in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. In August 2010, the center began its activity with the aim of supporting and developing basic and clinical research in the field of musculoskeletal disorders after receiving the principle approval from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. It also supports research on motor function in healthy individuals
Aims
The Musculoskeletal Research Center is established to develop research and technology for people with physical disabilities. The center strives to provide the appropriate rehabilitation equipment, train the researcher and encourage teamwork to improve the health of people in need of rehabilitation services.
The goals of the center are as follows:
- Forming interdisciplinary teams and research cores based on the needs of the target community and health system priorities (such as no communicable diseases and lifestyle change problems).
- Perform screening studies to assess the situation at the regional and national levels.
- Emphasizing the role of preventive measures and early interventions in debilitating lesions and diseases.
- Expanding inter-organizational and inter-departmental communication in research.
- Supporting technological and product-centric activities and enhancing communication with related industries.
- Improving the quantity and quality of studies in line with the research plan of committees and cores.
- Considering the exploitation of research and technology (knowledge translation) results in target groups and organizations.
Vision
The Musculoskeletal Research Center seeks to improve the level of services provided to people with motor disorders by providing functional and fundamental research in the country’s health system.
Mission
The mission approved by the musculoskeletal research center for the next three years include the following:
- Focus on developing research and technologies for self-care for people with disabilities and people with special needs
- Focus on the development of research and technology on knee osteoarthritis lesions
- Focus on developing interdepartmental and interagency research and technology in neurodegenerative diseases (stroke and multiple sclerosis)
